Sydney doesn't have to be so expensive

Australia's cities are regularly in the top 50 most expensive cities in the world. Sydney is always around 5th place in the list followed by Melbourne and this has been unchanged for years. To live in Sydney means hanging out with friends in the evenings in iconic suburbs like Surry Hills, Newtown, Glebe, rent an apartment close to a beach somewhere in Bronte, Coogee or Maroubra. Everyone who ever was in Sydney would confirm that the expenses for day to day life are little over expectations.
If you are the kind of guy who likes to go out meet friends on a rooftop bars with few beers and having a decent portion of a burger with chips and salad few times a week, or you have to have at least three cups of decaf dry soya milk cappuccino daily you might experience hard financial times. Consider a dinner with pizza with two or three beers and you easily reach $45. Lets say you are having a desert as well and the bill would be somewhere around $60. Depends how much money you earn but still it's a bit overpriced.

However there is a solution to this situation. Plenty of bars, hotels, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops across city, in each suburb offers happy hours, meal deals & special offers. Many leisure activity businesses have savings deals and promotions. So if you want to keep the social life and save extra bucks at the same time you just have to invest time to explore the city deeper. Try to use websites like SydneyHappyDeals, Groupon, Scoopon or Catch of the day. Read articles & blogs dedicated to happy hours or meal deals like Best Happy Hours in Sydney. There are many tips & tricks out there how to enjoy Sydney for cheaper. Good luck.
